St. Catherine
St Catherine and its capital Spanish Town which was once Jamaica's capital is not a resort area but it offers the convenience of being close to Kingston and close to Ocho Rios.
St Catherine still has some historical artifacts and offers architecture from it period of colonial rule by Spain and Britain and is home to the Arawak Museum (the Arawaks were one of the first inhabitants of Jamaica). It is also home to Hellshire Beach where one can find the most, tastiest and authentic fried fish and festival anywhere in the island. You can relax on the beach and enjoy a lovely meal. Jamaicans often come here to munch down on it delights and relax with friends on the weekends or public holidays if they don't want to travel too far from the city.

Caymanas Golf Course
Caymanas Park: For horse racing enthusiasts. They offer horse racing every Wednesday and Saturday and on public holidays.
Fort Clarence Beach
Hellshire Beach: Not to be missed as you can eat a very tasty seafood meal while looking out onto the Caribbean Sea. Absolutely relaxing especially when visited on a day during the week. But if you enjoy the crowds and want to hear some Jamaican music Saturday and Sunday is a very good bet.
Serenity Wildlife Park: This is a 50-acre wild life park just outside Spanish Town. It offers horseback riding, fishing, paddle boating and has an animal petting zoo among other things.
